Upcoming festivals across the UK have been left on a razor’s edge with some total cancellations – blamed on the government after some organizers complained about a lack of financial support and advice.

One music festival that has already been removed from this year’s summer lineup is Kendal Calling, in Cumbria – after organizers canceled for the second year in a row due to a “lack of government guidance”.

Concerns were raised after Prime Minister Boris Johnson delayed Phase 4 of England’s roadmap to exit the lockdown from June 21 to July 19, which, according to research by trade body LIVE, would cost the country’s live music industry more than £ 500million.

Co-founder of Camp Bestival, Rob da Bank said: “We have worked around the clock with our production teams, our safety advisory group and public and local authorities to ensure that Camp Bestival 2021 can take place this summer. .

“Although the delay in lifting the final restrictions means that we will move closer to lifting the remaining lockdown measures, we are still confident that the festival will continue.

“We want to reassure that security is our number one priority, and we will continue to work hand in hand with the relevant agencies and authorities to ensure that the correct security measures and crowd considerations are in place in order to deliver an event. sure.”

Other acts currently on the Camp Bestival lineup include Kelis, Becky Hill, Kelis, Friendly Fires, Trainspotting novelist Irvine Welsh and many more.

“If at some point we are unable to move forward with the festival, we will ensure that all ticket holders can defer their tickets until 2022 or request a refund.”

Organizers said more recent information will be released closer to the festival.
