Creamfields 2021: How to use the NHS app to prove your covid status

Following the easing of lockdown restrictions last month, major events such as Creamfields have finally been given the green light to go ahead, after a year of uncertainty for the entertainment industry.

The government is advising organizers of major events to use the NHS app to help people attending events show their COVID-19 status.

Although not a legal requirement, many major events such as Creamfields will require anyone attending over the bank holiday weekend to use the NHS app.

Festival-goers will be asked to show they have been double-bitten or currently tested negative for coronavirus before being allowed to enter the venue.

How to use the NHS app

The app is available for download from the Apple Store for iPhone users and the Google Play Store for Android devices.

Once uploaded, you can enter your personal information and you will be asked to verify your identity by uploading an image of a photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.

Once you’re set up with the app, you can click on the ‘Get your NHS COVID pass’ link to get started.

Using the app for major events

You can prove your covid-19 status through the NHS app in three different ways, depending on a number of factors including how many vaccines you have currently received.

If you’ve had both shots and it’s been 14 days since your second shot, this will be shown in the app as it’s linked to NHS records. This means you will be ready to use the app to prove your covid-19 status.

Find out what’s happening in your area by entering your postal code below:

If you have not yet received both vaccines, you will need to register a negative Covid test in order to obtain a temporary pass to attend major events such as Creamfields.

The test will need to be registered online, then the app will present a temporary QR code allowing you to enter the big events.

If you have recently tested positive for Covid, the app will show that you have immunity, and therefore a pass to attend major events using the app, for 180 days after your first positive test.

The app will display a QR code that can be scanned at the entrance to major events to prove your COVID status.

People attending Creamfields who do not have natural immunity or who have received both vaccines will need to record a negative test taken on the day of entry to the festival.
