Diana Ross to Play ‘Legends’ Slot at Glastonbury Festival 2022
The 77-year-old American singer joins previously announced headliner Billie Eilish to headline this year’s festival.
Ross said: “I’m so excited and grateful to finally know that I’ll be seeing you in Glastonbury on my UK Thank U Tour to celebrate my new album of songs on Sunday 26th June 2022.”
Glastonbury tweeted: “We are delighted to announce that @DianaRoss will be playing the Sunday Legends Slot on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury2022.”
Festival organizer Emily Eavis added: “I am delighted to be able to let you know that the beautiful @DianaRoss will be playing @glastonbury next summer. We were so excited to book such a legend for Glastonbury 2020 and are so happy that she is the first to be reconfirmed for next year.
This year the festival hosted a five-hour live stream event featuring artists such as Coldplay, Damon Albarn, Haim, Idles, Jorja Smith, Kano, Michael Kiwanuka, Wolf Alice and DJ Honey Dijon.
Last year the festival was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary – but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020 lineup was due to names such as American star Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and Sir Paul McCartney, with Ross set to play the legends slot.
Ross also released the music video for “I Still Believe,” the fourth single from his new album, “Thank You,” on Tuesday, which is available now via Decca Records/Universal Music Group.
