Glastonbury Festival 2022: a new “official cider” will be served in 100 bars of the event

Glastonbury Festival has unveiled a new “official cider” for its 2022 event. Brothers, based a few miles from the Pilton festival site in Shepton Mallet, will be served in 100 bars across the festival.

The local cider will take over from Mallets, which was the official cider of the last Glastonbury Festival in 2019. The world-renowned event is set to return in June after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The New Brothers apple cider festival variant will be available at the 2022 event. The apple variety will be served alongside a number of other festival favorites from its portfolio, including Brothers Apple Caramel and wild fruit .

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis said: “Local provenance and heritage are important to us, so we love having a cider maker from Somerset at the festival to showcase some of the best this county has to offer. Brothers Cider is produced less than three miles from the festival site and we have proudly hosted them every year for the past 27 years.”

The partnership agreement is with the Showering Family, owners of Brothers Drinks Co, which consists of four brothers who produce a range of apple and fruit ciders at the Showering Cider Mill in Shepton Mallet. The Showering brothers are part of a local dynasty of cider makers, who have been producing and distributing cider in Somerset for over 15 generations.

Matthew Showering, Managing Director of Showerings Cider Mill, said: “We are honored to return to the Glastonbury Festival this year – having introduced Brothers Cider to Glastonbury in 1995, the festival holds a special place in our hearts. This partnership is sentimental for our brand and our heritage as a local Somerset producer.

“Festivals are part of our DNA and this festival season is shaping up to be a season to celebrate and bring people together. Placing our brand at the heart of these moments will not only allow us to provide a great experience for festival-goers, but also to create affinity with the Brothers brand. We look forward to welcoming festival-goers again and offering them a season full of fun and flavors.

Brothers Cider is also giving away 10 pairs of Glastonbury tickets for the sold-out festival as part of pre-event promotions. These tickets will be distributed as part of a social media contest via the Brothers’ Instagram and Facebook pages.
