Glastonbury Festival 2022: Sir Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar headline alongside Billie Eilish | Ents & Arts News
Glastonbury have confirmed that Sir Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar will join the headliners at this year’s festival.
The former Beatle and the American rapper were both scheduled to perform at the famous Somerset Day in 2020, before the pandemic forced its cancellation.
Sir Paul, 79, will perform on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night – his second time headlining the event. Lamar, 34, will make his festival debut and close proceedings on Sunday.
They will join previously announced stars Billie Eilish and Diana Ross.
Eilish will play the Pyramid Stage on Friday night, becoming the youngest solo headliner.
Diana Ross will perform in the Sunday Legends slot.
Although Taylor Swift has been confirmed as the 2020 headliner, it is not understood that she will join the festival this year.
Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis shared the 2022 lineup on social media, writing: “We are very pleased to bring you the first shortlist of artists from the main stages of Glastonbury Festival 2022 – and if you can Believe it, there’s even more to come!”
Glastonbury was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2020, but like most other large-scale events it was canceled due to the pandemic.
Glastonbury 2021 has become a virtual eventwith Coldplay, Damon Albarn and Wolf Alice all performing live.
Other first wave artists confirmed to perform at Worthy Farm this year include Foals, Lorde, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Olivia Rodrigo, Wolf Alice and Years & Years.
Lineup also includes Arlo Parks, Charli XCX, Crowded House, Doja Cat, Easy Life, Elbow, Fountains DC, Ghetts, Glass Animals, Griff, Haim, Idles, Jessie Ware, Kacey Musraves, Little Simz, Megan Thee Stallion, Metronomy, Olivia Rodrigo, Pet Shop Boys, Primal Scream, Sam Fender and Supergrass.
Glastonbury 2022 will take place from June 22-26, with tickets already sold out.
