REVIEW: Simply the best weekend at Camp Bestival in Lulworth

With all the great weather lately the weekends tend to blend into each other but for thirty thousand people it wasn’t going to be a normal weekend as it’s Camp Bestival weekend .

Over the four days the weather was beautiful so I spent my time photographing different acts and chatting with people who all seem to have come for a thousand different reasons but with the same intention, to have the best weekend of the year.

I met people who had come to see specific groups, some for the wide variety of children’s events, a couple was getting married and another lady who found a marriage proposal that her boyfriend had put on the program of the festival of events she had worn over the weekend.

Something of this magnitude does not happen by accident, so huge credit must be given to Rob and Josie da Bank and all of their huge team of security, rescue workers and all the countless others who work so tirelessly every year to make this special festival what it is. is.

Highlights of children’s entertainment included the hugely popular Mr Tumble which drew impressive crowds early on Saturday, which then stayed for the equally spectacular and boisterous Brainiac: Science Abuse which put on a great show for children and adults alike. which could probably be heard all over the site and beyond.

My favorite festival band will undoubtedly be Shed Seven, who are always huge, closely followed by Rudimental, while my festival find was Snapped Ankles, who played on Saturday night in the marquee and were a real treat .

There were so many other things going on that it would be impossible to name them all, but special mention should be made of the successful disco dance world record attempt on Saturday afternoon.

Huge crowds watched as the more than 500 dancers performed a set routine in front of the Guinness judges, who were joined by Rob da Bank and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

The event took place under the giant disco ball which I remember being the subject of its own world record a few years ago.

What a great weekend it has been with something for everyone of all ages. Long may it continue.
